Solution Focused Hypnotherapy
Most people who smoke or vape already know every reason to stop. Knowing has never been the hard part. This is one longer session that works with the part of your mind that keeps reaching for the next one, so that choosing to stop no longer feels like a daily fight.
● One session of around two hours
● A short call before you book
● Relaxation track to use beforehand
Is this for you?
Maybe you’ve stopped before, for a week, a month or even years, and then one night out or one bad day brought it all back. Maybe you swapped cigarettes for a vape and now find you’re reaching for it more than you ever smoked.
Perhaps you’ve noticed how much of your day is quietly organised around it. The first one with a brew, the one after tea, the one once the kids are in bed. It can start to feel like the habit is running the day, not you.
None of that is a sign of weakness. It’s a sign of how cleverly the brain learns a pattern, and how tightly it holds on once it has.
Understanding it
There’s a part of the brain whose whole job is to keep us safe. It’s old, it’s quick, and it isn’t very good at telling the difference between real danger and an ordinary stressful day. When stress builds, it goes looking for whatever has brought relief before.
For a smoker or vaper, that’s the cigarette or the vape. Nicotine gives a small, quick lift, and the brain files it away as something that helps. Over time the habit gets tied to the brew, the car, breaks at work and a drink with friends, until each of those moments sets off the urge on its own.
That’s why willpower alone so often runs out. You’re asking the thinking part of your brain to argue with a much older, faster part that believes it’s looking after you. Hypnotherapy works with that older part, while you’re relaxed and not on guard.
How it works
Everything happens in one session, so a lot of care goes into making sure you arrive ready.
Step 1
Use the form on our website to request a call, and choose a time that suits you.
Step 2
We’ll ring you to talk about where you are with smoking or vaping. Hypnosis works with your choice, not against it, so we’ll only book you in if stopping is something you genuinely want for yourself, rather than for someone else.
Step 3
Your session is usually booked for about a week later. We’ll email you a short preparation sheet, and once you’re booked we’ll send you a relaxation track. Listening to it in the days before helps your mind settle, so you arrive already familiar with how it feels.
Step 4
We’ll talk through your own pattern: when you smoke or vape, what it seems to give you, what happened when you tried to stop before, and what you’re most looking forward to. Then we’ll explain what’s going on in your brain and how hypnosis actually works. It isn’t a magic trick. It works alongside your own free will.
Step 5
You’ll settle into a comfortable, relaxed state while we guide you through hypnotherapy built around stopping, using the things you’ve told us. Most people say it simply feels like a deep rest.
Step 6
No follow up session is needed. The relaxation track is yours to keep, and you’re welcome to use it whenever you want to settle your mind.
What can change
Stopping changes more than your health. People often tell us it’s the small, everyday things they notice first.
Smoking and vaping cost more than most of us like to add up. That money stays in your pocket, week after week.
Stairs, hills, kicking a ball about with the kids or walking the dog. Many people find they have more breath for the things they enjoy.
Food often tastes better, and the smell disappears from your clothes, your car, your hands and your home.
Stopping smoking at any age lowers your risk of heart disease, stroke, lung disease and many cancers. Vaping is far less harmful than smoking, but it isn’t harmless, and the nicotine keeps the habit going.
No more planning around the next one, nipping outside in the rain, or checking you’ve got your vape before you leave the house.
Less worry about the people you love, and children in your life growing up seeing that a habit can be put down.
Good to know
For many people it is, and that’s how the session is designed. We won’t promise it works for everyone, because nobody honestly can. What makes the biggest difference is wanting to stop for yourself, which is why we have that conversation before you book.
Yes. The pattern in the brain is very similar, and so is the session. We’ll shape it around whichever you use, or both.
That’s fine, and it’s worth telling us what happened. Every therapist works differently, and knowing what didn’t help last time is useful.
No. Hypnosis is nothing like the stage shows, and nobody can make you do anything you don’t want to do. Most people describe it as being deeply relaxed, a bit like the moments just before you drift off to sleep. You can hear everything, you can move if you need to, and you can open your eyes whenever you like.
If you’ve been thinking about stopping for a while, you’re welcome to request a call. It’s a conversation, not a commitment.
