Therapeutic Coaching

“You do the navigating. We help you see the way.”

The Starting Point

When life has pulled you off course

Sometimes things stop making sense in the way they used to. Work feels harder than it should. A relationship or a friendship has become something you carry rather than something that holds you. Or you have quietly lost sight of yourself somewhere along the way.

You are still managing. To the people around you, you probably look fine. You may well be the one who holds everything together. But something is not right, you cannot quite name it, and you rarely give yourself the time to stop and look at it.

This is not about being unwell. It is about feeling lost, or off your own path, and wanting to find your footing again.

Most people come to coaching for the same few reasons. Confidence, better balance, and a clearer sense of direction.

A lighthouse does not tell you where to go. You are the one navigating. We are the steady point that helps you see where you are and spot what is in your way. And you choose your own way forward.

Our Approach

A steady point to navigate by

At Lighthouse, we see mental health as your relationship with the world around you, not a condition to be managed. Coaching is that same idea, for someone who is functioning but stuck. It is about understanding where you are, and choosing where you go next.

We will not hand you answers or tell you what to do. You are the one navigating. Our job is to be the steady point you can take your bearings from, and to help you notice what is in your way, including the things you are too close to see for yourself.

The direction is forward. Not back into the past to work out what hurt you, but ahead, toward what you want to change and the choices in front of you.

A fixed point

Somewhere steady to take your bearings from, while you are the one moving.

A clearer view

Help seeing what is in your way, including what is hard to make out up close.

Choosing Your Path

Coaching or counselling

People sometimes ask what the difference is, and whether they should be booking counselling instead. The honest answer is that it comes down to direction, not to how much you are struggling.

Counselling

Looks back, to heal. It helps you understand and work through what is hurting, often looking at where something came from, so it can begin to mend.

Coaching

Looks forward, to move. It helps you work out where you want to get to, and take steps toward it.

The Practicalities

What to expect

Coaching sessions are 60 minutes long. You can meet in person at Lighthouse Therapy Group, or online, whichever works better for you.

Most people work in a short series of sessions rather than one-off appointments, because coaching works best with a little momentum. A common shape is around six sessions, spaced to give you time to try things in between, though we will always agree what suits you.

You will usually leave with something small to notice or try before the next session. Coaching asks a little more of you than counselling does. You are the one navigating, after all.

You are the one navigating

If you have drifted off course and want a steady point to help you find your way, this might be what you are looking for.

Most people book a short series of sessions. If you would rather test the water first, you are welcome to start with a single one. There is no need to have it all worked out before you begin.
